The police said the crook assured Mukle that investing through the platform would yield substantial profits in a short period. The businessman trusted the scheme and made multiple money transfers between Jan 7, 2024 and Aug 28, 2025. He transferred a total of Rs1.94 crore to accounts linked to the trading activity. When Mukle tried to withdraw the purported profits, he allegedly met with repeated delays, evasive responses and fresh demands for additional payments. Suspecting fraud, he eventually approached the police. The Chikhali police have registered a case under Section 318 (4), which refers to cheating, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).An officer from the Chikhali police said, “The accused stopped responding to the businessman’s calls after receiving the money. No profit was credited to his account and the invested amount was not returned.” The police said efforts were under way to establish the identity and trace the suspect. The police are also trying to establish the money trail, including the bank accounts, cellphone number and online platforms used in the transactions.Investigators are examining if the scam is a part of a larger network targeting investors through fake or misleading forex trading links and impersonation of trading professionals.
