Air India flight aborts 1st landing

Jaipur: An Air India flight from Mumbai to Jaipur aborted its first landing attempt and performed a go-around at Jaipur International Airport Thursday afternoon, triggering brief panic among passengers on board. However, on its second attempt, the pilot managed a safe landing within 10 minutes.According to airport sources, Air India flight AI-2781 attempted to land at around 1:10 pm. However, moments after touching the runway, the pilot decided to pull up the aircraft and climb back into the air instead of completing the landing. The sudden manoeuvre caused anxiety among passengers, many of whom feared a technical failure.Sources said the pilot opted for a “go-around” due to an unstable approach during the final phase of landing. Prioritising safety, the pilot chose not to risk a full touchdown and instead circled the aircraft in the air for nearly 10 minutes to stabilise conditions. “A go-around is a standard safety procedure followed worldwide when landing conditions are not optimal. While such manoeuvres are meant to prevent potential mishaps, repeated incidents raised concerns among passengers,” said an officer at the air traffic control office (ATC) of the Jaipur airport. At around 1:21 pm, the pilot made a second landing attempt. The aircraft landed safely on the runway, and all passengers disembarked without any further technical issues reported.Notably, Jaipur International Airport witnessed several instances of go-arounds, diversions, and landing difficulties in recent days. Factors such as changing weather conditions, technical checks, and approach-related issues led pilots to exercise additional caution during landings.
