Chandigarh: DC Nishant Kumar Yadav Thursday chaired a meeting of the district road safety committee to review ongoing road safety initiatives and traffic management work.The DC directed departments to expedite the installation of protective grilles on the central verge of the Sector 29/30 dividing road to prevent unsafe pedestrian crossings and improve safety. He asked officials to complete the work at the earliest. Yadav also reviewed projects aimed at promoting non-motorised transport and easing congestion. He set March 31 as the deadline for completing the cycle track on Purav Marg. The widening of the service lane between Hallomajra and the Zirakpur light point was also discussed, with instructions to ensure coordinated, time-bound progress. The DC said timely completion of cycle tracks would help reduce conflicts among road users and encourage eco-friendly modes of transport. TNN
