Prayagraj: A student study tour group from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, visited Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), Prayagraj, on Friday to learn about its academic activities and distance-learning system.The group included around 60 MSc students and research scholars from BBAU’s School of Home Science, Department of Food and Nutrition. Vice-Chancellor Prof Satyakam said the scope of distance education is vast, and that students enrolled in conventional institutions can also join the open university’s job-oriented and knowledge-enhancing programmes. He described the UP govt’s One District, One Product scheme as highly encouraging and urged students to take interest in it and broaden their research work. A documentary showcased internationally recognised products from Uttar Pradesh and the action plans of skilled workers and entrepreneurs. Prof Satyakam added that BBAU and UPRTOU plan to formalise collaboration and work together in this direction. BBAU faculty representatives Madhuri Daniel and Ashish Kumar Jatav thanked Prof Satyakam for facilitating the university visit. Earlier, the students toured the Saraswati campus and saw the Atal Auditorium, the yoga pavilion, the central library, the zoology laboratory, and online recording activities at the Centre for Online Education.
