Awaaz alliance wins major posts in EFLU students’ union election in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Awaaz Alliance, on Wednesday, won all major posts, including the president, in the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) students’ union elections. Harshad Shibin NK, a PhD student from the Fraternity Movement, won as president. The Alliance comprised candidates from the Fraternity Movement, Muslim Students Federation (MSF), and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). Similarly, Sonu Raj, 2nd-year BA (English) student from NSUI, won as vice president. Irfan Shajudheen, a student of BA (digital communication), and Haleemathu SS Adiya, studying BA (Arabic) from MSF, won as general secretary and joint secretary, respectively. The Alliance also managed to win the posts of cultural secretary and sports secretary.

“This victory demonstrates the growing unity of democratic student forces committed to safeguarding campus diversity, social justice, and students’ rights,” the Alliance stated.The newly elected panel members said they are committed to working tirelessly for academic welfare, gender justice, minority rights, and the democratisation of campus spaces.A total of 1,319 votes (85.15%) were cast in the student union elections, held on Wednesday.
