Gurgaon: A man from Bihar, who had come to the city in search of work, was robbed of cash, his mobile phone, clothes and other belongings after being assaulted by a group of men who offered him a lift in an autorickshaw in Farrukhnagar late Wednesday night, police said. The incident took place between 10.30 pm and 11 pm. The victim, identified as Shlok Raj (35), arrived at Tajnagar railway station and was walking towards Jamalpur stand when he boarded an autorickshaw. Four men were already travelling in the vehicle, according to his complaint.
Shlok alleged that shortly after the autorickshaw started moving, the men began assaulting him. “During the ride, they forcefully snatched his mobile phone and cash. He also alleged that the accused compelled him to disclose his UPI PIN and transferred Rs 11,000 from his bank account. In addition to this, Rs 700 in cash, his clothes and other belongings were taken away,” a police officer said. After committing the robbery, the accused pushed Shlok out of the autorickshaw at a deserted stretch and fled. The victim managed to reach a nearby area and later approached the Farrukhnagar police station to lodge a complaint. Police said a case has been registered under Section 309(6) (attempt to commit robbery, voluntarily causing hurt) of the BNS. Teams have been formed to identify and trace the accused, the officer said. Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from Tajnagar railway station, Jamalpur stand, and routes in Farrukhnagar to track the movement of the autorickshaw and the suspects. Police are also checking details of autorickshaws operating in the area at the time of the incident.
