Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said Saharanpur district administration demolished the mosque inside the DM office compound at the behest of BJP govt to divert people’s attention from lawlessness, unemployment, absence of investment and rising prices of essential commodities.“The law of the land will punish those who have demolished the mosque and those involved in the process. A local court’s order is executed within 12 hours of it being passed. How will people get justice if they do not get a chance to approach the higher court?” Akhilesh asked.The former UP CM questioned the urgency behind the demolition.“What was the problem if the petitioners moved the high court or Supreme Court for justice? Razing of the mosque by the district administration has left the people of Saharanpur pained. They are silent now, but these very people will vote the communal BJP out of power,” he said.Talking to the media in Auraiya, Akhilesh said: “When the BJP was formed, in order to project themselves as secular, they took refuge behind a Muslim to propose the name of its first national president. The maximum donation they (BJP) took was from the Muslim community.”He said today the same BJP is shattering the communal amity in the state.SP alliance to form govt: AkhileshAkhilesh on Sunday reiterated that the party’s original alliance will win the 2027 elections and form govt, signalling that the SP will contest the polls with Congress as its partner.The statement from Akhilesh came in response to a specific media query about the status of SP’s alliance with Congress. The SP had, on several earlier occasions, maintained that its alliance with Congress – which worked wonders in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls – was the original alliance and very much in place.Akhilesh said even BJP had conceded to the fact SP and its alliance partner were going to form govt; as a result, govt offices were out on a plunder spree.“Payments are being made in bulk in all departments so that proper commission can be pocketed,” Akhilesh said, adding that in some departments as much as 60% commission was being charged.
