Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao on Thursday demanded that the state govt clarify when it would deposit Rythu Bharosa amounts for farmers, after chief minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the money would be credited to bank accounts only after the municipal elections. They asserted that municipal elections were no impediment to releasing the funds. “The CM has the habit of making false promises before elections to get votes. It was proved in previous assembly elections and Lok Sabha polls. Voters should not get cheated again in these elections,” KTR said while addressing a roadshow in Sircilla municipality.
With the nomination process completed, the BRS launched its campaign for the municipal elections on Thursday. KTR took part in roadshows at Hanuman temple chowrasta, new bus stand, Telangana Thalli statue and Venkampet in Sircilla municipality. Harish Rao participated in roadshows at Pragnapur in Gajwel constituency. ‘Welfare schemes stopped’KTR alleged that after coming to power, the Congress govt stopped welfare schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi-Shaadi Mubarak and reneged on several promises. He also accused the CM of conspiring to remove certain districts created during the former BRS regime and challenged the Congress to seek votes after announcing such a move. Harish Rao demanded that Rythu Bharosa be released before Feb 11 and said the BRS would write to the State Election Commission seeking that disbursement not be stalled. He alleged that the govt was ‘anti-farmer’, citing fertiliser shortages and lapses in paddy procurement, and said development in Gajwel and Pragnapur had stalled after the Congress came to power.
