U.S forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers on Sept. 5 after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attempted to launch ballistic missiles toward two U.S. Navy warships.

“A U.S. aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer successfully evaded multiple unprovoked Iranian attacks,” the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed in an X post on Saturday.

The missiles did not strike the Navy warships, and no Americans were hurt in the attack.

In response, CENTCOM revealed it permanently disabled the IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask.

The third crude oil carrier, called the M/T Kylo, which is sometimes called “Noxen,” was completely destroyed by American forces in the Gulf of Oman.

“Let the message to the IRGC be clear: If you shoot at two of our ships, we will impose an even higher economic cost—taking out three of yours,” Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, said in a statement on Saturday.
