Lucknow: UP STF, in a joint operation with Maharashtra Police, arrested two wanted accused from Gorakhpur in connection with a case registered at Manpada police station in Thane, Maharashtra.The accused, Krishna Raj Gupta and Ankesh Gupta, were arrested from Bal Khurd Dudi intersection under Chauri Chaura police station area of Gorakhpur on Thursday.DSP (STF) DK Shahi said Krishna Raj Gupta and Ankesh Gupta allegedly attacked Dikshita, daughter of Kachru Thakur, with a sharp-edged weapon with the intention of killing her.A case was subsequently registered at Manpada police station in Thane, and both accused were reportedly evading arrest.Mumbai Police approached Uttar Pradesh STF for assistance in tracing and arresting the accused after their locations could not be confirmed in Maharashtra. Acting on the information, the joint team reached the location and arrested both accused before they could escape.Shahi said the accused admitted their involvement in the incident during preliminary questioning. Further interrogation and recovery of material related to the case will be carried out by the investigating officer of Manpada police station. After their arrest, the accused were taken to Chauri Chaura police station in Gorakhpur.Maharashtra Police are now undertaking the process of obtaining transit remand and completing further legal formalities to take the accused to Thane for investigation.
