LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday took a swipe at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust as it met in Ayodhya to decide on the temple’s first chief executive officer (CEO), saying he hoped there would be no repeat of what he alleged was theft of donations and accusing the BJP of allowing poor people’s land to be taken in Ayodhya.“When new things happen, do we forget what happened in the past? We have no complaints from anyone, but the way the theft of donations happened, you sent ordinary employees to jail but spared the big names. We hope there will be no theft of ‘Ram Dhan’,” Yadav said.“Ayodhya should have been developed as a world-class city. There was so much greed in their (BJP) minds that the poor are being defrauded of their land,” he said.
Ram Temple Trust meets to select first CEO
The meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust began at Shri Maniramdas Chhawni in Ayodhya on Wednesday to discuss and decide on the appointment of the first CEO of the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, news agency ANI reported.Trust members, including Mahant Dinendra Das Maharaj, Mahant Kamal Nayan Das and Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj, reached the venue for the meeting.The Trust is expected to consider the selection report and finalise the name of its first CEO.The three-member search committee had submitted its final report a day earlier following a screening process in which more than 5,000 applicants competed for the post.The report was submitted during a high-level meeting attended by Trust members, including Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj, Mahant Dinendra Das, Acting General Secretary Krishna Mohan and Ayodhya District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi.The search committee comprises retired Lieutenant General Vishnu Kant Chaturvedi, former scientist Suresh Haware and former Justice Pramod Kohli.
Ram Temple Trust appoints 3 new trustees
The Ram Temple Trust has also appointed three new trustees — Delhi-based Mahesh Bhagchandka, a relative of late VHP leader Ashok Singhal; Ayodhya-based Madan Mohan Pandey; and Nirmala Yadav of Shikohabad.The appointments come as the Trust holds discussions on the selection of its first CEO and other matters related to the management of the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.(With agency inputs)
