Vice-prez honours NCR officer for social works

Lucknow: J Sanjay Kumar, 39, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (2015 batch) officer posted as deputy chief vigilance officer of North Central Railway, was presented an alumni award by the Vice-President of India for his contribution to society.The award was given during the Founders Day celebrations organised by the Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust, Erode, Tamil Nadu on Saturday. The ceremony was held in the presence of Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Governor of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.Kumar was recognised for combining public service with social responsibility and community initiatives.His social work includes restoring nearly 3,000 books in a library at Tundla Junction railway station (Firozabad), planting over 25,000 trees under the “Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam” initiative in Firozabad and Jhansi. He also launched “Neki Ki Diwar” to provide warm clothes to underprivileged people. He was among the few selected railway officers who were officially commended by former Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, for contribution in Operation Sindhoor.Prof Anbumani Vinaiathann, associate professor and head of the department of Hindi and other languages at Kongu Arts and Science College, Erode, congratulated Kumar in a Facebook post. She described him as an alumnus who combined professional competence with social responsibility and a commitment to the nation.Vinaiathann, taught Kumar Hindi during his BBM Computer Applications course in 2007.
