AMBALA: Inspector General of Police, Ambala Range Pankaj Nain on Wednesday held an important review meeting with officers and staff of the Ambala district traffic police at his office. The meeting aimed at strengthening road safety measures, reducing road accidents and ensuring a more effective and smooth traffic management system across the district.To ensure transparency and improve public interaction, the IG made it mandatory for traffic police personnel to wear body-worn cameras while on duty. He said this would help maintain polite conduct with citizens and provide reliable evidence in case of disputes.During the meeting, the IG conducted a detailed review of the functioning of CCTV cameras installed on national and state highways. He directed that all cameras must remain fully operational and provide effective coverage of road stretches. To enhance public awareness and voluntary compliance with traffic rules, instructions were issued to install information boards at prominent locations, clearly indicating that the area is under CCTV surveillance.The meeting also focused on identifying accident-prone locations (hot spots). The IG instructed officials to coordinate closely with concerned departments to carry out timely improvements and corrective measures at such sites. Emphasis was laid on holding regular joint meetings with the Road Transport Department (RTO) to ensure better inter-departmental coordination and more effective enforcement of traffic regulations.Strict action against red light jumping was another key directive. The IG ordered the use of the online challan system to take firm action against violators, aiming to instill traffic discipline and significantly reduce road accidents.Concluding the meeting, Pankaj Nain directed all officers to ensure strict enforcement of traffic rules and to work with sensitivity, alertness and responsibility, keeping public safety as the top priority.
