Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Wednesday reclaimed a park site in Meerpet and sealed two illegal five-storey buildings in Manikonda following complaints from residents. In the first case, HYDRAA safeguarded 2,100 square yards of land earmarked for a park in Nandi Hills Colony within the Meerpet municipality limits of Balapur mandal in Rangareddy district. The land, reserved for public use, was allegedly encroached upon after portions were occupied using “by-number” registrations, with residents alleging that fake layouts were created to legitimise the occupation.
“Acting on complaints received during HYDRAA Prajavani, we conducted field inspections and verified revenue and layout records, confirming the encroachment. The entire park land was subsequently reclaimed and secured for public use,” HYDRAA commissioner A V Ranganath said.In a separate incident, HYDRAA seized two five-storeyed buildings constructed on land meant for public utilities in Neknampur village under Manikonda municipal limits. The constructions came up using fake layout regularisation scheme (LRS) documents, even as cases related to the land were pending in court, as per officials. Ranganath said the land formed part of an HMDA-approved layout in Venkateshwara Colony, where plots were originally reserved for public utilities. “Permissions were allegedly obtained using forged LRS approvals, while another building came up on land earmarked for a septic tank and park after approvals were secured directly from HMDA,” he added.Despite attempts by the Manikonda municipality to cancel the permissions, construction continued at a rapid pace. Following complaints and an inquiry ordered by high court, HYDRAA sealed both structures. On Wednesday, HYDRAA, along with GHMC and revenue officials, fenced the sites and halted all construction.
