Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inspected the redevelopment and construction work of the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and reviewed facilities in the newly constructed building (Phase-1). The CM directed the officials to expedite construction and ensure completion within the stipulated timeline.He stressed that quality and safety standards must be maintained throughout the work. He said that along with modern medical facilities accommodation for doctors should be ensured, and patients should not face any inconvenience and must receive advanced facilities and timely treatment.
During the visit, the CM inspected the radiology department on the first floor of the newly constructed building and took stock of the health facilities and other development works. The Officials informed him that necessary facilities were provided in the department and state of the art CT scan and MRI machines were available. He later visited the upper floors and reviewed facilities in the paediatric department, including the NICU ward, nurse station, cleanliness arrangements, and maternal and child health wards.The CM also reviewed the ongoing redevelopment and construction work across the hospital complex and sought detailed updates on progress and the current status from the PMCH officials.He further instructed that construction of accommodation for students, teachers, doctors and nursing staff associated with the PMCH should be completed with better quality and at a faster pace. He also said that all arrangements for advanced medical services should be ensured as the hospital expands.The CM also reviewed the park and beautification work being developed on the JP Ganga Path.The PMCH is being redeveloped into a world-class hospital with 5,462-bed capacity. The first-phase of work was completed with 1,100 beds in two towers.Those present during the inspection included principal secretary to the CM Deepak Kumar; chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit; health department secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh; secretaries to the CM Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh; health department special secretary Himanshu Sharma, district magistrate Thiyagrajan SM, PMCH superintendent Dr Rajeev Kumar Singh, and other senior officials and doctors.
