Akhilesh urges EC to lodge FIRs over misuse of form-7

Lucknow: Urging the Election Commission of India to file FIRs against criminal misuse of Form-7 allegedly by the BJP, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday addressed a press conference, presenting videos and documents to establish how votes were fraudulently being deleted in an institutionalised manner. He questioned the silence of ECI and the Chief Election Officer over his repeated memorandums highlighting the issue in detail and in writing. “Now, there is hardly anything more that is needed to establish that the BJP is misusing Form-7 in an institutionalised way which is a serious crime. The buck stops at EC. The Election Commission should not only ensure that this fraud is checked but also bring the guilty to book and unmask those who are behind it. If the ECI cannot do that, it should hoist the BJP flag on top of its offices,” Akhilsh said.

Claiming possession of some reliable statistics, Akhilesh said the BJP is conspiring to get 1, 00,99,710 votes deleted. “BJP has handed over pen-drives to its workers containing Form-7 ready with all details printed in the blanks. All they have to do is to get printouts of these forms and get them signed by the respective BLOs. Our PDA Praharis are working overtime to check this wherever possible,” Akhilesh said.Playing video clips before mediamen, Akhilesh showed how Nand Lal of Jaisinghpur Assembly constituency in Sultanpur district claims that he cannot read or write but his BLO has received 26 forms signed by Nand Lal seeking deletion of votes of his neighbours. Similarly, Najma, the Anganwadi BLO of Mohammadpur in Sewapuri assembly seat of Varanasi was handed over 500 Form-7 by a local youth for deletion of votes. These were two of the several instances that were presented before the media backed by video footage that Akhilesh used to draw home his charge that the BJP was misusing Form-7 in bulk to get votes deleted under the guise of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. Akhilesh demanded FIRs against those involved in criminal misuse of Form-7 and went on to announce that SP leaders were ready to accompany the ECI on the ground to expose this fraud.During the press conference it was pointed out that in Varanasi the person who handed over 500 Form-7 to the Anganwadi BLO Najma seeking her signatures for deletion of names was a local resident who can be traced and questioned in public to track the source from where the forms had originated.
