The murder took place when Swapna Kumari, along with her mother, Venkatamma, and a surveyor, went to the land on Wednesday around 10am to conduct a survey of the four acres. “Raju reached the place with three others in a car, and rammed into Swapna who was standing on the road. As she fell, Raju got out and attacked her with a stone. His associate Veeresh slit her throat. Two others, Shiva and Sandeep, from Moinabad were accompanying the duo,” a senior police officer said.Moinabad inspector G Pavan Kumar Reddy said Swapna Kumari was rushed by villagers to a nearby hospital in Moinabad, where she was declared brought dead. Police seized a stone from the crime scene but they were yet to recover the sharp-edged weapon used in the offence.After learning about the murder, a group of lawyers from Chevella court reached the Moinabad police station and staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. The lawyers alleged that had police acted on Swapna Kumari’s two earlier complaints about an attempt on her life, she would have been alive. Advocates also briefly protested on the Moinabad main road, causing traffic congestion in the area for about half an hour.On the earlier complaints, police said the first complaint was lodged by Swapna Kumari’s mother G Venkatamma on Nov 6, 2025. Venkatamma alleged that an unknown person driving a blue car hit her daughter’s scooter at Mudimyala gate at 10.10am on Nov 6, 2025.Police said the second complaint was lodged on Jan 12 at the Moinabad PS, alleging that an unknown person driving a bulldozer tried to run her over at Moinabad. Swapna Kumari alleged that she suspected her brother to be behind the attempts due to the land dispute between them.“We have registered FIRs in both the instances. Swapna alleged that her brother was involved in both the incidents and as per our investigation his role was not established. The cases are under investigation,” the inspector said.Venkatamma, who was an eyewitness to the murder, told police that along with her son Raju, his neighbour Veeresh, their associates Shiva and Sandeep were also present at the scene. She alleged that her son, along with some other people, planned and committed the murder of her daughter.A murder case was registered under Section 103 (1) of the BNS against Raju and others on Venkatamma’s complaint. Police picked up Raju along with Veeresh, Shiva and Sandeep from Moinabad.Raju reportedly confessed that he was upset with Swapna Kumari for making attempt to murder allegations against him and killed her in a fit of rage for conducting survey at the land against his wishes.
