MoU to train first responders, toll booth workers on state’s highways

Vadodara: To strengthen road safety and emergency response in Gujarat, Lifeline Foundation on Wednesday signed a two-year MoU with the Gujarat Road Safety Authority to improve trauma care training and first responder preparedness. The MoU was signed in Gandhinagar in the presence of transport minister Pravin Kumar Mali and road safety commissioner S A Patel. Lifeline Foundation thus became the first non-govt organization in Gujarat to formally partner with the state road safety authority for capacity-building. Under the agreement, the two organisations will collaborate to strengthen post-crash response systems, trauma and emergency care, hazardous material incident management and preparedness of frontline responders. Special focus will be on toll plaza workers, law enforcement personnel and emergency service providers operating on highways. The partnership includes joint the organization of MoVACon, a biennial road safety conference, and programmes to observe World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Training initiatives for police, schoolteachers and staff are also planned. Since 2022, Lifeline Foundation trained 1,172 highway stakeholders across 26 toll plazas, covering 1,420km of highways in Gujarat. The organization plans to extend these programmes to 36 toll plazas during FY 2026–27. Officials said the collaboration would strengthen Gujarat’s road safety ecosystem through sustained training, partnerships, and improved emergency response mechanisms.
