CM announces increased pension for freedom fighters, honours after demise

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday chaired a meeting with the Freedom Fighters Welfare Committee and announced that the monthly pension for freedom fighters has been enhanced from Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,000. The allowance for freedom fighters has also been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000.“It was also decided that as a mark of honour a deputy collector and a DySP will attend the last rites of deceased freedom fighters and lay a wreath on behalf of govt,” Sawant said.He assured the committee that all their concerns will be addressed “with sensitivity and priority, in close coordination with concerned departments, The committee said CM assured govt jobs to children of freedom fighters.
