Teen threatens to jump four floors, brought down after 90 minutes

Ghaziabad: A 16-year-old girl triggered panic in Khoda colony early on Tuesday after she climbed to the edge of a fourth-floor water tank and threatened to jump. It took the fire department around 90 minutes to rescue the girl.The class 9 student of a govt school in Delhi, had snuck out of her home some time after midnight, locking the rest of her family inside. When her family noticed that she was missing, they called out for help and their neighbours unlocked the door to let them out. The family eventually found the girl hiding near the water tank on the fourth-floor of the building.When they approached her, she threatened to jump. Family members and neighbours retreated downstairs and called emergency services for help. The girl, meanwhile, jumped to an adjacent roof, where she locked the door and threatened to jump off the water tank again.Chief fire officer Rahul Pal said they received information about the incident around 4am. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and approached from another nearby roof to rescue the girl while her family and other fire officials attempted to talk her down. She was rescued after around 90 minutes, fire officials said.The girl’s mother told officials that the girl had suffering from some mental health problems, police said.
