To get a new electricity connection in Uttar Pradesh (UP), you need to apply through the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) or the respective electricity distribution company (DISCOM) serving your area. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Identify Your Electricity Provider

UPPCL has five DISCOMs based on regions:

  1. PVVNL (Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd) – Eastern UP

  2. MVVNL (Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd) – Central UP

  3. DVVNL (Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd) – Southern UP

  4. PuVVNL (Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Ltd) – Western UP

  5. KESCo (Kanpur Electricity Supply Company) – Kanpur region

Check which DISCOM covers your area on UPPCL’s website.

Step 2: Required Documents

  • Identity Proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, etc.)

  • Address Proof (Aadhaar, Passport, Rent Agreement, etc.)

  • Ownership Proof (Property papers, Registry, Lease Agreement, etc.)

  • Passport-size photo

  • Affidavit (if required)

Step 3: Apply for a New Connection

Online Application:

  1. Visit UPPCL’s Online Portal or your DISCOM’s website.

  2. Register & fill out the New Connection Application Form.

  3. Upload required documents.

  4. Pay the application fee & security deposit online (varies by load & connection type).

  5. Submit and note the application number for tracking.

Offline Application:

  1. Visit the nearest DISCOM office or CSC (Common Service Center).

  2. Fill out the application form and submit documents.

  3. Pay fees via cash/cheque/DD.

  4. Get a receipt with a tracking number.

Step 4: Inspection & Meter Installation

  • UPPCL/DISCOM official will inspect your premises.

  • After approval, a meter will be installed (usually within 7-15 days).

  • You’ll receive a consumer number for bill payments.

Step 5: Connection Activation

  • Once the meter is installed, your electricity supply will be activated.

  • You can check status online via UPPCL Complaint Portal.
