Pakistani spy brought to Jaisalmer for verification during police remand

Jaisalmer: A man arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, was brought to Jaisalmer by a Jaipur CID team for verification during his four-day police remand and taken back to Jaipur Tuesday. The accused, Jabbara Ram, was arrested by Rajasthan CID (Intelligence) Friday from the Sankra police station area of Jaisalmer under the Official Secrets Act. Officials allege he was honey-trapped by ISI handlers and shared confidential and strategic information related to Indian security forces. He was produced before a court Saturday and remanded to police custody for four days. On Monday, the Jaipur CID team brought him to Jaisalmer and took him to several locations for verification. His residence in the Pokhran area was searched, but no objectionable material was found. He was also taken to Pokhran town, the Gadisar intersection in Jaisalmer city, and other locations from where he allegedly shot photos and videos of Army convoy movements and strategic activities. Investigators said Jabbara Ram shared images and details of Army, Air Force and BSF vehicles and troop movements with ISI handlers. He was allegedly instructed to send four to five photos or videos every month. He was also linked to multiple local WhatsApp groups and is accused of forwarding sensitive information shared there. Preliminary scrutiny of his bank accounts revealed multiple transactions amounting to about Rs 70,000, allegedly transferred by ISI-linked accounts. Officials said an ISI female handler, identified as Muskan, recruited him through a honey trap. Examination of his mobile phone reportedly confirmed the exchange of strategic information for money.
