Jaipur: A 60-year-old woman was murdered for her jewellery while grazing goats in a forest area of Sawai Madhopur Tuesday evening.SHO Jitendra Singh Solanki said district police identified the victim as Kamla Devi, a resident of Kodyai village under the district’s Baunli police station limits. Police said the incident took place around 4.30 pm when she went to graze cattle and was alone in the forest when she was attacked.After killing her, the attackers inflicted injuries on both her legs with a sharp weapon and fled with her ornaments, including silver anklets, as well as gold earrings and a nose ring.According to family members, she wore multiple gold and silver ornaments when she went out to graze goats. Her grandson told police that the assailants also looted a silver chain weighing about 25 grams, a gold amulet, gold earrings, and a nose ring.Villagers passing through the forest spotted the body and alerted police. On receiving the information, Baunli police personnel rushed to the spot and began an investigation.The murder sparked anger in the village, with residents blocking the main road in protest and demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible. Police remained deployed in the area late into the evening to maintain order.Investigators are probing the murder for robbery and scanning nearby areas for clues to identify the attackers. An official told TOI that the primary probe indicates the suspects followed the woman for some time and waited in hiding before attacking her with a sharp weapon.Police said the woman regularly grazed cattle in the area and it was not a new location for her. Officials added that deep wounds were found on her neck, head, feet, and hands. Police said FSL teams collected samples from the scene.
