Jaipur: The state govt has decided to create 298 more senior resident posts in 10 medical colleges in the state after the finance department approved medical education department’s a proposal, a senior health official said.The move aims to strengthen Rajasthan’s medical education system, prepare more qualified doctors for future and increase employment opportunities in the health sector, said the official.
He added that the new posts would provide better opportunities for medical education in the state along with quality health services to patients. He said the posts would increase the number of medical staff in hospitals attached to medical colleges. He said, particularly, the availability of additional senior residents in departments with high patient load would enable operations, emergency services and specialist treatment to be conducted more efficiently. He said this would increase the capacity of hospitals and improve the quality of health services at the state level. He said the decision was taken with the objective of providing two-year senior residency (SRship) under bond to admitted students of NEET PG and Super Specialty Batch-2022, which would strengthen the state’s health services. The official said that this is an important opportunity for NEET PG Batch 2022 students, as two-year SRship under bond is mandatory. The new posts would provide placement to more students, enabling them to gain practical experience, develop expertise and advance in their careers. This would help address the shortage of doctors and provide young doctors the opportunity to serve in the state itself. According to the medical education department, new posts were created for medical college Jaipur, 78 for Jodhpur, 27 for Bikaner, 23 for Kota, 7 for Ajmer, 58 for Udaipur, 11 for Jhalawar, 4 for Bharatpur, 6 for Pali and 2 for Dungarpur Medical College. The posts will be distributed across various departments.
