Gurgoan: A 55-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with an unlicensed pistol at his residence in Gandhi Nagar on Saturday.The victim was identified as Shailendra Kumar Karan, who ran a private primary school on the ground floor of his house. The post-mortem report, conducted on Sunday, confirmed that he died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Moreover, officials said the origin of the illegal firearm used would only be clarified once Sujata was taken into custody.A suicide note was recovered from Karan’s pocket and a personal diary from the house, police said. According to the note, he blamed his wife, Sujata, and her friend, Kulbir Beniwal, for his decision to end his life. He stated that he was unable to cope after his wife left him around two years ago.Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Nilender Kumar Karan, police said Sujata and Kulbir allegedly subjected the victim to mental harassment over property-related matters. In the note, Karan wrote that his home was being destroyed because of Kulbir, police sources said.The couple did not have any children. According to a relative of the victim, Sujata came in contact with Kulbir after she joined a network marketing company. After allegedly developing a relationship with Kulbir, she left the victim and started living in a flat in Sector 37.Based on a complaint filed by Kumar’s family members, Shivaji Nagar police registered a case against Sujata and Kulbir of Hansi. Both were booked under sections 108 (abetment of suicide), 3(5) (act done by multiple persons) of BNS and 25 (possessing, carrying, manufacturing, or selling illegal firearms, ammunition, or prohibited weapons without a valid license) Arms act.A police officer said that the body was handed over to Kumar’s brother and other relatives following the post-mortem examination. “We have registered the case and are conducting an inquiry to apprehend the accused,” a cop said.
