Muggers rob cash agent of Rs 31L in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Four bike-borne miscreants robbed a private company employee of Rs 31 lakh in cash on Bannerghatta Road Sunday evening.Victim Kailash of Madanayakanahalli worked as a cash-collection agent for the last two years. He would daily ride back on a scooter to his Nelamangala office in the evening after collecting cash — between Rs 20 and Rs 40 lakh — from different firms.

According to police, Kailash would place the cash bundles in the dickey of his gearless scooter and hand over the money to his employer, Rakesh Kumar, who had a contract with an e-commerce platform.On Sunday too, Kailash collected Rs 31 lakh in cash for the day and placed it inside the vehicle’s dickey. According to him, four men — two each on a scooter and a motorbike— blocked him on Sakalavara Road in Bannerghatta around 4.20pm, seeking directions.“Before I could answer, one of them attacked me with a machete. I panicked and they pushed me down. Another man snatched my mobile phone and they rode away with my scooter,” Kailash told Bannerghatta police.A shocked Kailash flagged down a motorbike and requested the rider to drop him near the police station. After travelling for nearly 1km, Kailash found his scooter abandoned by the side of the road. The ignition key was in place but the cash bag was missing.
