Chandigarh: Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria inspected several public sites across Chandigarh Saturday to review infrastructure, maintenance and civic amenities, with a focus on improving the quality of public spaces.At the Japanese Garden, Sector 31, and the Garden of Palms and Sector 42 Lake, he reviewed park facilities and instructed departments to upgrade walking tracks, benches and fencing, ensure better cleanliness and maintain adequate water levels in the lake.He later visited the Chandigarh Botanical Garden, Sarangpur, where he asked officials to develop the site into a major tourist attraction. During the visit, he inaugurated the Hi-Tech Nursery – Advanced Plant Propagation Unit, set up to raise healthy, fast-growing saplings through modern techniques. Officials said the unit would support afforestation, eco-restoration, urban greening and biodiversity enhancement.The administrator also inspected the community centre, Sector 38, and reviewed the existing infrastructure. He directed officials to rejuvenate and upgrade old community halls within the premises to improve public utility.Officials said the inspections were aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure and ensuring that residents have access to well-maintained and accessible public facilities across the city
