Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma has commended what he described as the ‘special focus’ on the northeastern region of the country in the Union budget 2026-27, presented by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the parliament on Sunday.The CM, who also holds the state finance portfolio, said, “It is a visionary and holistic Union Budget that lays a strong roadmap for sustained economic growth. The special focus on the northeast underscores the govt’s firm resolve to transform the region into a dynamic growth engine of the east”.
He extended his “sincere gratitude” to Sitharaman and to the “visionary leadership” of PM Narendra Modi through his social media handle.
