Kanpur: A Hindu man in the Rawatpur area of the city accused his Muslim wife of trying to force him to convert to her religion and alleged that she left for her parents’ house with their child and valuables after he declined. Police registered a case against the woman and her parents and started an investigation.The complainant said he married a Muslim woman in 2023 on the understanding that neither would pressure the other to change faith. He said things were initially fine, but her behaviour gradually changed. He alleged that shortly after the marriage, the woman, under her parents’ influence, began urging him to convert to her religion. He said disputes arose when he resisted.The complainant said their son was born on August 26, 2025, and that his wife insisted on having him circumcised. He alleged her parents also pressured him to agree and threatened him with false legal charges when he refused.He said that on Jan 16, she left with their child, cash and jewellery, accompanied by her mother, to her parental home.ACP (Kalyanpur) Ashutosh Kumar said, “A case has been filed based on the husband’s complaint, and further investigation is ongoing. Actions will be taken according to the evidence found.”
