Pune: Kalepadal police are searching for an unknown youngster after he sped away with a motorcycle worth Rs1.40 lakh after asking the used automobile showroom attendant for a test ride around 7pm on Friday at Sayyednagar in Hadapsar.The used vehicle showroom owner, Wasim Shaikh (36), of Sayyednagar, lodged a complaint with the police after conducting a search for the motorcycle and the suspect in the area.According to the Kalepadal police, the youngster visited the showroom wearing a mask. He then asked the attendant to show him a good motorcycle and saw a couple of motorcycles in the showroom.The FIR states, “The youngster then chose a high-end motorcycle and discussed its cost and other aspects with the attendant. The youngster then sought a test drive of the motorcycle, and the attendant gave him the keys of the motorcycle.”“The suspect then took the motorcycle for a test ride but did not return to the showroom,” police said, adding, “The showroom owner and attendant searched for the motorcycle in Sayyednagar and Hadapsar and then approached the police with the complaint of theft and criminal breach of trust.”Police are studying the CCTV cameras in the area to ascertain the direction in which the motorcycle went and to ascertain the identity of the suspect.Police said that the attendant did not check the ID card or any other details of the suspect.
