Hyderabad: BRS leaders on Sunday staged protests and rallies across Telangana, including in Huzurabad, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Mancherial, and Wanaparthy, condemning the SIT notices issued to former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.The protests were led by MLAs or local leaders, who called the notices politically motivated. They raised slogans against the Congress govt and chief minister A Revanth Reddy. Demanding the withdrawal of ‘fake cases’ against KCR, protesters burnt effigies and copies of SIT notices at several places.“Touching KCR is like touching the self-respect of Telangana,” said Sangareddy MLA Chinta Prabhakar. He alleged that the SIT notices were part of Revanth Reddy’s vindictive politics. “People are observing Revanth Reddy’s political tactics and will teach the Congress party a lesson in the upcoming elections. This is not a legal investigation but purely an act of political revenge,” the MLA said.Similarly, former minister S Niranjan Reddy, who took part in the protest in Wanaparthy, said, “The Congress should stop this political vendetta, or it will have to pay the price once the BRS returns to power. People have already realised that this govt is not capable of doing anything. In two years, it has done nothing for people. Their downfall will begin for sure.” He also used the protest as a platform to seek votes for BRS in the upcoming municipal elections. In several places, minor scuffles broke out between the police and BRS members when the latter tried to burn effigies of the govt. BRS leaders alleged that the SIT notices were issued to divert attention from allegations of corruption in Singareni, solar tenders, and other issues. In some districts, police detained protesters to ensure that no untoward incidents occurred.
