Three rape cases reported in Surat

Ahmedabad: Three cases of rape were reported in the city — in the Kapodra, Rander and Athwalines areas. In the first case, a 45-year-old man allegedly raped his foster daughter in Kapodra and shot a nude video of her. The accused allegedly raped the victim to sex at the home of her mother and at a hotel, after threatening to circulate a nude video of her.The complainant married a Surat man last Feb. When she visited her mother’s home, her foster father allegedly raped her when they were home alone. He threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone of the crime. He later called the victim’s husband and called her to his home, by making various excuses.In July, the accused went to the victim’s home and raped her. He also shot a nude video of her. After that, he blackmailed the victim, took her to various hotels and raped her. When the victim told her husband what had happened, he advised her to file a complaint with the police.In the second case, a 21-year-old Kota woman accused one Surat man of rape and another man of abetting the crime. She stated that she had earlier met one of them, Aman, who called her to Surat to celebrate her birthday. On Jan 1, she arrived in Surat and Aman allegedly gave her drugs by injection and raped her. He later allegedly took her to a city hotel and raped her. The victim was allegedly confined at various places in Surat until Jan 20 before she managed to escape. She alleged that Aman’s friend, Rohit, had abetted the crime and had assaulted her during her confinement.“We received a ‘Zero FIR’ from Udhyognagar police in Kota, based on which an offence was registered. We have called the victim to record her statement,” a Rander police official said.Box:Mentally unsound woman rapedA 32-year-old woman, who has learning difficulties, was allegedly raped in the Athwalines area. Her family learned of the offence when she was taken to a doctor and found to be five months pregnant. Athwalines police registered a rape complaint and began an investigation.
