Artwork and handicraft of West Bengal up for grabs

Bengali handicraft decor, jewellery, paintings and artworks are major attraction at the 5-day Sanatkada Festival at Safed Baradari, Raja Rampal Singh Park and Amir-ud-Daulah Library. Venue was teeming with people clicking selfies, enjoying food items and women choosing and bargaining at different stalls. Riddhima Saha, who came along with her mother Anupama Saha, purchased a jamdani dress, while her mother bought a beautiful muslin jamdani saree. Beenish Rizvi, a customer at a stall said, “I bought four kaantha sarees and one jamdani for myself because of its beautiful work.” Art lovers were also busy shopping for exquisite ‘pattachitra’ and ‘Kalighat’ paintings. People were also seen selling mat (chataai) items, a folk art of West Bengal made from a grass called ‘maadur kaati’. Kaantha embroidered jewellery is a hot pick.
