Ludhiana: A woman allegedly suffered a miscarriage after being “brutally assaulted” by her husband. Acting on the woman’s complaint, Division No. 2 police have registered a case against the husband.The complainant, identified as Preeti of New Kidwai Nagar, alleged that her husband Manik, a resident of Janakpuri, frequently assaulted her. She is currently admitted to the hospital.The complainant told the cops that she married Manik a few years ago and alleged that he often assaulted her. She added that she was pregnant and had been unwell for some time. As per the complainant, due to her deteriorating health, she was unable to carry out household chores that allegedly led to frequent disputes. Preeti alleged that during one such incident, her husband beat her severely, following which she suffered a miscarriage.The woman reportedly was in severe pain at home after the assault. After her parents came to know about her condition, they took Preeti to hospital for treatment.Meanwhile, a police complainant has been lodged.Acting on her complaint, Division No. 2 police have booked the accused under sections 89 (causing miscarriage without a woman’s consent), and 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of the BNS.Cops said that the matter is being probed.
