Power bill relief plan extended

Lucknow: The second phase of the electricity bill relief scheme has been extended until Feb 5. The phase was earlier scheduled to conclude on Saturday.Officials said more than 42 lakh consumers have registered under the scheme so far, and collections have crossed Rs4,500 crore.

UPPCL managing director Pankaj Kumar instructed all field officers to ensure improved performance in their respective areas, mentioning that strict action will be taken where progress is unsatisfactory. He asked officials to contact every consumer with outstanding dues, explain benefits of the scheme, and ensure their registration and payment. He said consumers who register early and clear their dues will receive higher rebates. Relief has also been provided in cases related to electricity theft, including exemption from legal proceedings.tnn
