Thieves target walkers, cars in south and central Kol

Kolkata: Incidents of thefts and snatching targeting walkers and cars have been reported from south and central Kolkata. A 46-year-old techie from Behala, employed with an MNC, claimed his bag containing gadgets and his employee identity card, were missing from his car after some unknown miscreants broke the vehicle’s rear-side glass on Friday (Jan 30). He and his friends had parked the car on the footpath in front of Eliot Park, opposite JL Nehru Road, when they went for a morning walk.

A Broad Street resident lodged a complaint with Karaya Police Station, alleging that his mobile phone was snatched a couple of days ago while he was walking towards Park Circus Station on Rifle Range Road at night by two unidentified bike-borne men. A woman from Ballygunge Circular Road lodged a complaint alleging that an unknown person stole Rs 10,000 and some jewellery from her niece’s room at a south Kolkata club, where she had put up after arriving from Delhi between Dec 23 and Dec 26.
