Pune: MP Supriya Sule on Saturday met Ashatai Pawar, mother of late deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, at her Katewadi residence in Baramati before heading to Delhi for the Budget session of Parliament. Surpiya said after the meeting that she sought Asha kaki’s permission to travel to Delhi and the latter told her to attend Parliament as it was her duty. “Asha kaki told me that this was the country’s Budget and I must go. She also said it was my duty to attend the session as the NCP (SP)’s floor leader in Parliament,” she said.

Supriya said the family was still in deep mourning and not in the frame of mind to discuss politics. “My brother (cousin) died three days ago. We are extraordinarily disturbed,” Supriya said, refusing to comment on political developments in Mumbai or Sunetra Pawar’s swearing-in.She told TOI, “Saheb (Sharad Pawar) met Parth Pawar (Ajit Pawar’s son) because we are a family. I don’t know what is happening in Mumbai and I have nothing to do with it.” NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar said he was happy over Sunetra Pawar succeeding Ajit Pawar as the deputy chief minister. He later posted on X congratulating her for becoming the state’s first woman deputy chief minister. Rohit said no one could replace Ajit Pawar, but the family saw him in Sunetra in some way.|
