MUMBAI: The city police have detained a man from Pune for allegedly firing five rounds outside film producer Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday. The producer was inside the house at the time, and no one was injured.Juhu police said Shetty’s security guard, who alerted him about the firing, later lodged a complaint. Bullet shells were recovered from outside the producer’s residence. The motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.“A forensic team and a ballistic expert team have visited the spot. Meanwhile, police security has been enhanced outside Shetty’s residence following the firing,” a police officer from the Juhu police station said.Juhu Police and the crime branch rushed to the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation. A high-level meeting of the Mumbai Police was also underway in connection with the incident. A case has been registered against unidentified assailants under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Heavy security has been deployed around Shetty’s Juhu tower.Rohit Shetty is a well-known director in the Indian film industry, best known for blockbuster films such as Golmaal and Singham.A similar incident was reported in 2024 outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, where two bike-borne assailants fired four rounds and fled the spot.
