Pune: Sunetra Pawar is likely to contest in the bypoll for Baramati assembly seat, vacant after the death of her husband, Ajit Pawar. Considering the high emotions, any party is unlikely to field a candidate against Sunetra if she decides to contest from Baramati. According to Section 151A of the Representation of People Act, 1951, byelection to fill a vacant MLA seat must be held within six months from the date it becomes vacant. As Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on Jan 28, the bypoll for the Baramati assembly seat has to be conducted before July 28 this year.Since Sunetra has already taken oath as the deputy chief minister, the Baramati assembly seat is the most certain route for her to be in the cabinet. She will have to vacate the Rajya Sabha seat in that case, which might go to either of her sons.
