Chandigarh: Online fraudsters withdrew Rs 92,000 from the pension account of an ex-Army man after calling him from an unknown number. The complainant, Kishori Pal, a resident of Chandimandir in Panchkula, retired from the Army and currently works as a supervisor of security personnel at GMCH-32, Chandigarh. He maintains his pension account with Punjab National Bank.On Jan 16, 2026, around 7pm, while he was on duty at GMCH-32, he received a call. As soon he answered, his phone malfunctioned. When it resumed functioning, he found that six illegal transactions amounting to Rs 92,000 had been made from his pension account by unknown individuals.Kishori Pal said after his pension was credited again, he received calls from the same number, indicating that the fraudsters were still active.
