MUMBAI: The director of a privately run de-addiction centre, his wife, and two other individuals were booked by the Malwani police after an underage girl was allegedly raped at the institution in 2024. One of the accused has been arrested. Police said it was likely that there was one more victim, and that they were trying to trace her.The complainant was around 15 at the time of the incident. Her family got her admitted to the de-addiction centre in Jan 2024. According to her complaint, the director sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions at the institution. She alleged that one of her friends also underwent a similar ordeal. Two other male accused used to molest the girls.When the victim complained to the director’s wife, who helped co-run the centre, she did not get any support, according to the complaint. The victim complained that, due to repeated sexual assaults, she was pregnant. She said the accused forced her to abort by giving her a pill. The victim was admitted to the centre for several months, and it was during this period that the incidents occurred. After going through physical and mental trauma, the victim eventually confided in her parents, and they approached the Malwani police station recently.
