Special judge Pocso Act, Etawah Rakhi Chauhan on Saturday sentenced an accused to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 for raping a minor girl. The court said that if the convict failed to pay the fine, he would serve an additional one year of imprisonment. District government advocate Shiv Kumar Shukla stated that on the morning of Jan 2024, a 16-year-old girl from a village in Balrai police station area had suddenly gone missing from home. Her family members searched extensively but could not find any trace of her. In the afternoon, a young man called the girl’s uncle’s mobile phone, saying the girl was in Etawah. The family reached Etawah but did not find the girl there. After this, a case was registered at the police station. After investigation, the police recovered the girl from near Jamuna Bagh in Jaswant Nagar area. tnn
