Panaji: A 16-member delegation from the Netherlands embassy in New Delhi visited Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) on Friday to explore collaboration on green port projects, renewable energy and hydrogen readiness.The delegation, which included private industry players in Goa for India Energy Week, met port officials to discuss potential partnerships in hydrogen storage, operational safety, and pilot projects, including green tugs.
Port officials described the discussions as “preliminary” but admitted that formal collaborations for the future were discussed. “In future, we may have MoUs, particularly in hydrogen storage at the port, which can be used as fuel for ships. They talked about pilot projects on solar energy and green tugs,” said an official.MPA chairperson N Vinodkumar briefed the delegation on the port’s green initiatives, while Netherlands embassy innovation counsellor Jan Reint Smit and Netherlands Enterprise Agency programme adviser Anneleen de Ruiter discussed avenues where the Netherlands could assist the port with its green port vision.The Dutch companies that participated in the discussions were the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research, HydroFlexx, Da Vinci Laboratory Solutions, Bosch Thin Metal Technologies, and other companies.The Netherlands actively sought partnerships with Indian ports to promote sustainable maritime operations and reduce carbon emissions in shipping. Mormugao Port, which handles significant cargo traffic, worked on transitioning to cleaner energy sources as part of India’s green port initiative.
