Kendrapada: A man who had allegedly raped a 19-year-old girl in 2018 in Kendrapada district and had given police the slip for over eight years was arrested on Friday night.The 53-year-old accused, a neighbour of the survivor, was apprehended from his house. “After the heinous crime, the accused fled from the village. We formed a special team to nab him. Acting on a tip-off, we arrested him when he came to his house,” said inspector Sandhyarani Jena.The girl had filed an FIR alleging she was raped by the accused on March 7, 2018, while she was alone in her house. The accused also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident. “The accused was produced in a court at Rajnagar on Saturday, which rejected his bail application and remanded him in judicial custody,” said Jena.
