Lucknow: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, the Alambagh police apprehended a female drug peddler on Friday. The police recovered 750 grams of illegal cannabis (ganja) from her possession.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a suspicious woman near the Railway Chhoti Line at cab-way cut. During the search, the team discovered the illicit contraband hidden in her belongings. The accused was identified as Renu Rawat (28), a resident of the Bazarkhala area in Lucknow.Alambagh police registered a case against Rawat under Section 8/20 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act (case no. 19/2026).According to the police, the accused used to roam around the Mawaiya and surrounding areas to sell cannabis to local buyers for quick financial gain. The police are currently investigating her past criminal records to determine if she is part of a larger distribution network.
