Minister orders closure of illegal back gates, crackdown on encroachments in Panchkula

Panchkula: Haryana revenue and disaster management minister Vipul Goyal Friday directed officials to take immediate action against illegal encroachments across Panchkula, including demolishing unauthorised structures and sealing rear gates that residents have opened illegally.He was chairing a meeting of the district public relations and grievance redressal committee at the PWD rest house, Sector 1, where six complaints related to civic issues were taken up. Most were resolved on the spot, while time-bound instructions were issued for the rest.Taking serious note of encroachments in Sector 6, Goyal told MC officials to remove all unauthorised structures on priority. He said encroachments of any kind would not be allowed and specifically ordered the closure of illegally opened back gates, terming them a violation of norms.Jhuriwala dump issue flaggedResidents of Sector 25 raised concerns about long-standing garbage accumulation in Jhuriwala village, saying it had created foul smell and pollution. The minister directed the MC to ensure daily garbage lifting and to clear legacy waste at the earliest.He also instructed the pollution control board to speed up the issuance of an NOC for a material recovery facility proposed in Alipur village. The regional officer was told to coordinate with the MC and complete formalities within the stipulated period so the facility can become operational soon.Encroachments in Sector 6 park, Abhaypur villageA long-pending complaint regarding encroachments in MC park no. 606, Sector 6, was also taken up. Goyal directed officials to clear the park area of encroachments without delay.The councillor of ward 9 informed the minister that factory owners in Abhaypur village had encroached upon firni land, hampering Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran’s (HSVP) sewerage pipeline work. Goyal ordered the MC to remove the encroachments and asked HSVP to resume laying the sewer line and present a progress report at the next meeting.Shop encroachments near Bhainsa TibbaResidents of MDC Sector 6 complained that the footpath along the main road near Bhainsa Tibba village, under the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA), had been encroached upon by shops, tandoors and kilns. Goyal asked PMDA officials to give encroachers 10 days to remove the structures voluntarily. If they fail to comply, enforcement action must follow, and grilles should be installed to prevent future encroachments.Reiterating the state govt’s focus on maintaining civic order and hygiene, Goyal said strict enforcement and timely grievance redressal would remain priorities in Panchkula.
