Dibrugrah: A total of 600 NCC cadets from across India participated in the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat – II (EBSB) NCC Cadet Camp at Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat.The event concluded on Jan 28, following twelve days of cultural exchange, educational enrichment, and national integration activities.The camp, which ran from Jan 17 to Jan 28, brought together cadets from the northeastern states, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Sikkim. Organised under a special initiative of the North Eastern Region Directorate, the programme aimed to promote national integration, cultural exchange, unity in diversity, and mutual understanding amongst youth from different parts of the country.Cadets gained valuable insights into Assam’s rich heritage, scientific progress, and defence preparedness through educational visits to the river island of Majuli, Tocklai Tea Research Institute, the Indian Air Force Station, Jorhat and the Sukapha Samannay Kshetra. These excursions provided participants with a deeper appreciation of the region’s cultural significance and contemporary contributions to national development.To provide a platform for showcasing regional heritage and creativity, various events were organised throughout the camp, including elocution, debates, and quizzes that tested cadets’ knowledge and oratory skills. Painting competitions and National Integration Awareness Programmes (NIAP) allowed participants to express their artistic talents, while reinforcing messages of unity. Group songs and group dances brought together diverse cultural traditions, creating memorable moments of harmony and celebration.The concluding ceremony took place on the evening of Jan 27 at the Madhab Chandra Das Memorial Auditorium. Distinguished dignitaries in attendance included Assam Agricultural University vice-chancellor Bidyut Chandan Deka, Jorhat additional district commissioner Pankaj Borah and Group Commander and Camp Commandant Brigadier Karnail Singh, along with officers from the Air Force Hospital, Air Force Station, Jorhat, and Jorhat Group NCC.During the event, a detailed course report was presented, highlighting the camp’s achievements and activities. Cadets shared their personal experiences from the camp, offering heartfelt testimonials about the friendships formed and lessons learnt during their time together. These accounts were followed by cultural performances that showcased the diverse traditions represented amongst the participants.
