Gorakhpur: The naked body of an unidentified 35-year-old woman was found under a bridge in the PP Ganj area of Gorakhpur early Friday, triggering panic in the locality, police said. Preliminary investigation suggests the woman was murdered elsewhere and her body was dumped at the site to conceal her identity. Her head had been brutally crushed with a brick, and multiple injury marks were found on different parts of her body, SSP Rajkaran said. The body was spotted by morning walkers under the Bairghatta bridge. Police said the nature of injuries point to a violent crime. A forensic team and dog squad were pressed into service. The dog squad traced a trail from the spot towards Bairghatta village via the bridge but returned after covering nearly 200 metres. Police officials also found drag marks near the site, strengthening suspicion that the body was brought from another location and dumped under the bridge. TNN
