Ahmedabad: With new residential buildings and commercial complexes being constructed in the western parts of Ahmedabad, the future demand for drinking water in these areas is expected to rise. To address this, the state govt, through Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited, approved the allocation of additional 467MLD of raw water from the Narmada main canal. “Raw water is supplied to the Jaspur water treatment plant from the Dholka branch canal, covering various water distribution stations in the command areas of the north-west, south-west, and west zones of Ahmedabad, including Chandkheda, Motera, Sabarmati, Ranip, and Balolnagar in Nava Vadaj ward. This raw water is treated, and an average of 400MLD of treated water is supplied daily to the western parts of the city,” said standing committee chairman, Devang Dani.
