New CCTV control room opens at Varanasi Junction

Varanasi: A new state-of-the-art CCTV control room was inaugurated at Varanasi Junction Railway Station by Railway Protection Force (RPF) woman constable Shamika, in the presence of Sunil Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railway, Lucknow Division, on Friday. The new CCTV control room will provide significant assistance in further strengthening the safety, security, and surveillance system for passengers at Varanasi Junction.The CCTV control room now has 12 large screens of 55 inches installed, while previously 9 screens of 43 inches were operational. Additionally, live feed from a total of 186 cameras is now being received, including 41 PTZ, 138 bullet, and 7 dome cameras.Earlier, feed from a total of 122 cameras was available, which included 28 PTZ, 101 bullet, and 7 dome cameras. With the increase in the number of cameras and screen capacity, effective surveillance of all platforms up to their extreme ends and the yard area has now become possible, thereby further strengthening the safety and security arrangements for passengers.Previously, CCTV cameras were operated on an NVR-based system, which is now connected to a server-based system. This made camera management more convenient, and any technical failure can be attended to immediately. Additionally, automatic backup of recordings is secured, which can be easily recovered when required.
